Athlete Updates

March 13, 2017

Our Welsh snow sport athletes have continued to make their mark on the world stage, led by a fantastic result from Maisie Potter at the World Snowboard Championships in Spain where she finished in 14th place in the boarder cross event in her first World Championships.

This result for Maisie, aged 19 from Bangor, starts the qualification process for potential selection to the Olympics in PyeongChang 2018.

This week we also have two Welsh athletes competing in Paralympic test events in PyeongChang. Menna Fitzpatrick hopes to continue here recent success on the World Champs where she gained a bronze medal and Chris Lloyd (returning from a knee injury) will be looking to gain experience that will improve upon his 9th place at the World Champs.

In Alpine skiing, Olivia Ward was selected and competed in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Turkey where she gained 28th places in Slalom and Giant Slalom.

Over the next few weeks we will also see the Charleston twins from Llanelli compete for Team GB in the Special Olympics in Austria and Luca Mai Hopkins Lane will compete in her first FIS International Snowboard Slopestyle event. Find out more about the twins here, they're definitely ones to watch!
