As one of the leading junior Alpine race training centres, the British Ski Academy (BSA) will support the 2017 GBR Alpine Series, regarded as the highest level of ski racing on UK slopes with the exception of National Championships.
To be known as the British Ski Academy GBR Alpine Series, the series is run by the three Home Nations governing bodies – Snowsport England, Snowsport Scotland and Snowsport Wales, and consists of five races at indoor slopes and five races at dry slopes across the UK. The action kicks off on Sunday 30th April 2017 at Pendle Ski Club (see below for full list of dates).
The BSA GBR Alpine Series is open to all promising young Alpine skiers, competing in age categories from Under 10 upwards. The Under 10s and Under 12s compete in fun races, whilst the Under 14s upwards take part in seeded races, all battling it out for the silverware and to be crowned the BSA GBR Alpine Series Champion in their age category.
Tim Fawke, Chief Executive of Snowsport England, said of the announcement: “We are delighted to welcome the British Ski Academy as new sponsors of the GBR Alpine Series for 2017. The BSA GBR Alpine Series will again be a key part of the UK’s Alpine racing calendar. The 10 races give the best young Alpine skiers in the country, from under 10 upwards, the chance to compete against each other in a fun and competitive environment.”
British Ski Academy Director Malcolm Erskine said of the sponsorship: “The GBR Alpine Series is the engine room for competitive ski racing in the UK. Many thanks to Skyscanner, Artemis and SkiTeam4 for their support which will translate into some great prizes and bursary awards for training at the BSA’s new base in Aosta during the 2018 season. Watch out for details of prizes and new features. We’re looking forward to some great racing this summer season and as part of the sponsorship, BSA will pay the entry fees to the GBR Alpine Series 2017 for any member of the full senior Delancey British Alpine Ski Team and also racers who are in the top five spots on the national male and female seed lists. Enjoy this winter season and hopefully see you at Pendle!”

British Ski Academy
The British Ski Academy (BSA) provides an inclusive and friendly winter base to support and encourage junior British racers aiming to achieve the highest standards in Alpine ski racing.
Since 1996 BSA have operated tailored school and ski programmes lasting from a few weeks to the whole winter. Trainees from age eight to eighteen attend training camps throughout the year. The younger racers frequently live out and many students have their first experience of race training with the BSA. The BSA is based in the Aosta Valley in a new winter base less than a kilometre from the lifts to Pila, offering early to late season training with slopes well over 2000m, varied terrain and extensive snow-making. BSA are sponsored by Artemis Investment Management.
