Menna Fitzpatrick Season Highlights

April 24, 2017

Visually impaired Alpine racer, Menna Fitzpatrick has gone from strength to strength over the past two seasons. She had a phenomenal 2015/16 winter and despite some serious injury setbacks, built upon this success for 2016/17.

Coming off the back of becoming Overall World Cup Champion 2016 in her first year of international racing, it was always going to be a big challenge to maintain that level in her second year. With early season preparations going well, Menna took a high speed fall (50mph plus) in Super G training resulting in a broken hand which resulted in an operation. Not what a racer needs at the start of the season!

The recovery meant eight weeks out of snow training and competition, and then a gentle return so as not to damage the injured hand. After a tentative start Menna (and her fantastic guide, Jen Kehoe) started to ramp up the pace gaining a bronze medal at the World Championships. Menna and Jen are now set on a plan that gives them the best chance they can to chase the gold medals at the Paralympics in PyongChang 2018.

We can't wait to see you two racing next season!
