Success for West Wales' Bro Myrddin School

October 9, 2015

As you know this year's Welsh Schools' Championships was our best yet, with a record number of entrants and some wonderful surprise wins from schools like Bro Myrddin in West Wales.

Bro Myrddin have been knocking on the door of first place podium for a few years, having qualified for the British Championships for the last five years but this was the first time they have managed to seal victory at the Welsh!
Ysgol Bro Myrddin is a 900 pupil Welsh medium comprehensive school in Carmarthen. Three members of this year's team are registered racers and members of West Wales Ski Club.

The team is as follows: Aiden Jones, 16 years old and a year 12 pupil whose blistering performance earned him first place overall, as well as 1st Under 18 racer! Next comes Owen Llewellyn Jones, another 16 year old, year 12 pupil,  who came in at 3rd registered Under 18 racer. Huw Butterworth is 15 years old and in year 11, he now only dusts off his skis for the schools races - not a bad effort for someone who doesn't train on a regular basis! The final member of the team is 12 year old Tom Butterworth in year 8, who won the Under 14 age category.

Riding high on their success the boys are now really looking forward to racing in the British Championships at Pontypool on November 21st and promise that they're going to give the race for the overall podium the best they've got! We're rooting for you boys!
