Welsh Athlete Profiles - Chris Lloyd

September 18, 2015

How old were you when you got in to snow sports?

I started skiing with a school age 14 and then started learning to race in 2012 at age 38!

What prompted you getting involved in snow sports?

I was injured in an accident in September 2011 and was told I would never do anything like ski again due to my spinal cord injury. It made me more determined.

Who was your first coach/instructor?

Tony McAllister.

What is your favourite memory from your time in snow sports?

Getting to the World Championships in Panorama, Canada in 2015.

What are your plans for the future both in snow sports and general life?

My aim is to qualify for the Paralympics in 2018.

What is your biggest achievement in snow sports?

Again, getting to the World Championships in Panorama, Canada 2015.

What motivates you to get up and go training?

Having a life changing injury and being told that I can’t do something and proving that if you put your mind to something you really can achieve it.

What would you say to anyone thinking about getting involved in snow sports?

Life is too short, just do it when you can. You never know what the next day will bring.
