Snow-Camp's Graduate Success

Snow-Camp's 6 week Graduate courses have been inspiring and developing young people's slope skills and raising awareness of vocational opportunities with presentations from industry professionals.

Snow-Camp are a youth charity using the power of snowsports to harness young peoples potential and expose them to positive pathways, with life-skill training, national qualifications and vocational opportunities within snowsports.

Young Volunteer of the Year - Holly Morrissey

Conwy’s top athletes across many sports disciplines gathered in Venue Cymru for the annual Conwy Sports Awards. 2017 categories included Junior Sports Man, Junior Sports Woman and Young Volunteer of the Year in which Holly Morrissey was nominated.

Who is Holly? Well, Holly is an adaptive ski instructor that has ben volunteering with Disability Skiing Wales at the Llandudno Ski Slope.

2017 British Schools Champs

November brought not only some frosty weather but also the annual British Schools Skiing Championships. This year’s competition was held at Pontypool ski slope and saw entry of over 160 participants from across England, Scotland and Wales all vying for the title of British Champion.

It's My Sport, My Dry Slope - Bethan Holland

Another one of our It's My Sport, My Dry Slope stories, in case you don't know this is what it's all about:

We are aware that grassroots snowsports in the UK invariably revolves around artificial snow or dry slopes, but that doesn't just have to be the beginning, it can be a life-long love affair!  

We're keen to feature people making use of their local dry slope on a regular basis. We want to hear from a diverse background of users from across all disciplines (Ski, Board, Nordic, Disability) young and old. It would be great to have stories from recreational participants, instructors or coaches, competitors and people who work in the sport.

This time round it's Bethan Holland’s turn.

She’s a Welsh girl living in the French Alps and here’s how here local dry slope created her love affair with skiing and mountain tops.
