Young Instructors

October 13, 2017

We have taken a keen interest in our young instructors and are asking what has motivated them to get out on the slope and instruct. We hope that their stories will inspire our younger generation to get involved. Dan Harding-Dutch is an 18 year old ski instructor that started at Cardiff Ski Centre as a volunteer when he was 16 years old. He is now a qualified level 1 ski instructor and he tells us why he decided to take up instructing.

“I wanted to become an instructor because I used to watch Ski Sunday as a child and I always thought it would be amazing to teach one day. I have carried that since then and found learning from a young age helped me want to carry on instructing because it inspired me.

I really enjoy teaching and passing what I have learned to others so that they can enjoy skiing as much as I do. I also hope that by being a younger instructor, I am able to inspire others to follow the same path. I also hope that my instructing motivates those that I teach to want to be better and maybe take up instructing too.”

Snowsport Wales have a Junior Level 1 instructors course (14 – 18 year olds) running on the 2nd and 3rd of December 2017 at the Cardiff Ski Centre. For more information, head on over to or get in touch:
